Winter Outdoor Academy Programs at Wickiup Hill

By Linn Country Conservation October 29, 2020

Linn County Conservation Education staff offering enrichment opportunities for families, stay-at-home students, or home school groups.

The Outdoor Academy addresses the growing need to introduce and engage today’s youth in the natural world. Daily activities are designed to be fun, dynamic, and active while providing high-quality environmental learning experiences through games, crafts, stories, and in-depth nature exploration. Programs are all based at Wickiup Hill Learning Center and are designed to accommodate a busy schedule.

Students of the Outdoor Academy will explore the prairie, forest, and wetland around the Learning Center. Each program will focus on current happenings within the landscape or observations found during nature discovery. Participants will look closely at where things live and how they survive: learn about amazing birds, use dip nets to catch aquatic critters and track mighty mammals. Students should expect to play camouflage games, discover animal trails and learn about predators and the prey they hunt. Wickiup Hill Learning Center is located at 10260 Morris Hills Road, Toddville - less than 10 minutes from the NW side of Cedar Rapids.
