Raggedy Ann & Andy's Yuletide Adventure Review

Last Saturday I had the opportunity to take my family to go see Raggedy Ann & Andy's Yuletide Adventure at The Old Creamery Theatre in Amana.  First off, I have to say that there is not one bad seat in the house.  We were greeted with candy canes and welcomed with a very nice introduction.  They were more then welcoming.

This is the 40th season for The Old Creamery Theatre.   In 2008 the theatre decided that there really is not enough shows for children in our community, so they decided to start the Theatre for Young Audiences.  And I am so glad they did!

The story starts out with Grandma storing Raggedy Ann & Andy being away in the attic for fear that their feelings might get hurt when Marcella's new dolls arrive on Christmas.

After Grandma puts the Raggedy Ann & Andy dolls away and leaves the attic, the two timeless dolls magically come to life along with some of their other colorful friends in the attic.

The theatre is genius on how they interact with the audience and allow the children to participate in the show.  My children absolutely loved how they chased the sneaky witch through the audience trying to get back the magical burning stick.  For me, my favorite for sure was Mrs. Hooligooly and the Nice Fat Policeman.  Hysterical.

For us too! This production made sure that the adults were entertained as well with one liner's that only we could understand like the "South Beach Potion by Jenny Craig".  So funny.

The show was well thought out ~ from the distinct voices of each character, all the way to how the dolls magically came to life.  And I won't tell you where that sneaky witch ends up~ super cute!!  You would think that the show would end there.  NOPE!  At the end of the show, the children are able to meet and greet the characters of the show and get pictures and autographs.

This production was just the right length with an intermission perfectly timed for little ones.  Very well thought out for children.  I highly recommend taking the whole family to see this show.  Tickets are inexpensive and refreshments are very reasonable.  I can hardly wait to see what the next show has in store!
