Hy-Vee Aisles Online

By Lexi Coberly August 18, 2016

Imagine getting your groceries in peace and without little (or big) fingers adding items to the cart that you didn’t plan on. Now imagine doing that peaceful shopping with your favorite drink in your hand and being able to do it ANYTIME (perhaps while up at 2am with a child) and then after all this the groceries magically appear at your door. Now stop imagining this because it’s reality. If you haven’t had Hy-Vee’s groceries delivered to you, you are doing your grocery shopping the hard way! Seriously!

Last winter, like most people, our family had a crazy busy week and weekend. We needed groceries but between school activities, work (personally my husband and I don’t always enjoy 8-4:30pm work days, we often have work events at night and on weekends), and life in general and we had no time to get to the store but we needed food. So I decided to try the Hy-Vee Aisle Online and see how it would work. I did our menu, figured out our list and sat at my computer (at 10pm at night). I logged into the Hy-Vee Aisle Online and got all registered (added in my Fuel Saver, too) and away I went. Everything I needed I just added to my basket. At the end, I chose which Hy-Vee near me I wanted to deliver, what day, and what 1 hour time frame I wanted them delivered. I had them deliver them 2 nights later between 5-6pm. Friday, I get an email with what all they had (a few items they didn’t have and I marked no substitutes) in my bags and my total. At 5pm that Friday, a very nice man came to my house, asked where he could set the groceries, brought them to my kitchen counter, had me sign the paper. I gave him a tip (side note it is optional, but they did just save my sanity by bringing my groceries to me, and that should be worth something, right?!), and he went on his way. Just like that I had my groceries, all sale items were given to me at the sale price and all Fuel Saver rewards were added to it. So simple. I was hooked on this. And then just when I didn’t think it could get better it did. Our PTA sells the AMAZING Hy-Vee fundraiser coupon books and after a phone call to the store, I learned that the coupons in the book (and any coupons they have) can be added to online orders just as if I was in the store. In the notes section you can add the coupon codes for your personal Hy-Vee shopper to discount. If you want your bananas ripe, put it there and they will bring you ripe bananas. If you don’t care if you receive Finding Dory or the Turtles Macaroni and Cheese, tell them so they can bring whatever is in stock. If you find a delish chicken kabob at the meat counter when you do go in the store, but don’t see it as a choice to add to your cart, tell them and they will bring it. Also, add in your coupons, just write what the coupon is and the coupon number (normally in one of the corners) and bingo!  …they will give you the savings. If you spend over $100, the delivery is free but I will admit - I do pay the $4.95 fee to have it delivered when my order isn’t quite $100. To me, it’s worth it. When I do go into the store my bill is ALWAYS more then that I plan for because someone (myself included) add items to the cart that wasn’t on the list or that we don’t need but look really yummy (hello cherry almond muffins!) and that $4.95 is way cheaper then what all ends up in my cart. Not only is this very much parent approves (my hubby LOVES it if we can avoid the grocery store during our weekly errands), but it’s kid approved. My kids absolutely LOVE it that we don’t go to the store and do “another boring errand”. Plus, the delivery drivers are so nice and friendly; some crack jokes with the kids, so they enjoy the visit from them as much as I enjoy just sitting back and relaxing and have the groceries come to us.

If you haven’t experienced Hy-Vee Aisles Online yet – I highly recommend you give it a try. Add time back into your week, money back into your wallet, and sanity back into your life. *
